NEVERandagain : Group Exhibition
Curated by Elissa Levy
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:
ALISA BAREMBOYM, BALAM BARTOLOM´E (ISCP), RHYS COREN (ISCP alum), RICO GATSON, RENA LEINBERGER (ISCP), ELISSA LEVY, SAM MARTINEAU, BJöRN MEYER-EBRECHT, AUSTIN THOMAS, IAN UMLAUF
NEVERandagain, organized by artist and independent curator Elissa Levy, brings together international residents of ISCP and artists from the Brooklyn community to explore the affect of images on the art-making process. We are surrounded by imagery in newspapers, magazines, books, films, and on the Internet. These are both a part of our immediate experience and are also historical remnants. With todays technology we are able to manipulate and edit these images in order to highlight what concerns and interests us most. Thus, history can repeat itself in an endless loop, the present can become a found object and the future can be predicted and altered. Re-imagining time and space re-creates our place within them. The artists included in this exhibition recognize the authority of images and our ability to reclaim that authority through visual art.
The show opens Nov 6th - there will be a VIP opening from 5-7, general opening from 7-9pm
